“My 84-year-old father was moving to Dallas and needed a place that provided assistance. We looked at a few other houses, but the feeling we got while visiting New Horizon, and the connection we felt with the owner, Buke, made them an easy choice […] We believe that the staff is truly committed to providing care in a loving, respectful way and it’s not just a way for them to earn a paycheck. I also like that the care is so personalized: your Dad prefers apple juice to orange juice or he likes this brand of toothpaste? They will take care of it. Plus, with only 8 residents in a home, the staff truly know my father, his personality, and his needs and preferences.”

“This has been a wonderful alternative to nursing home care. Most, if not all, assisted living environments are really geared more toward individuals who have some level of independence. Nursing homes provide more involved care, but unfortunately the staff to patient ratios are such that while the care exists on paper – in reality not so much. At Rocky Top, if a resident rings for help, someone comes immediately or close to it. No waiting for 30 minutes for a nurse’s aide. If there are temporary or permanent changes in care required, they are able to adapt quickly. If you need to hire home health or hospice, Rocky Top collaborates with them. Plus, the food is good! They make an effort to have a varied menu, and to make the meals look as good as they taste. They are always able to adjust to the resident’s needs and wants.”

“I knew we needed a smaller ratio of caregivers to residents, more one on one care, and New Horizon checked those boxes. My dad went into New Horizon very underweight. The team set a personal goal to get him back on track. They monitored his weight very closely and kept me abreast. They allowed him to make specific requests for meal choices and catered to his tastes. As a result he is now up to a very healthy weight! […] For me, New Horizon represents peace of mind. The staff truly cares! It’s not just another job, they seem to really like what they do. They treat your family like their own.”

With our 1:4 ratio of residents to caregivers, we ensure they get all the attention they need, including special attention to homemade meals and dietary requests. The health and well-being of our residents always comes first.

“Four and half years ago we were looking for a place that could accommodate my mother because, at the time, she had a feeding tube. Most assisted living centers would not take her. […] When we found New Horizon, what really stood out was the quiet, home-like atmosphere, and the fact that mom would get one-on-one with the caregivers. Since mom has moved in, we’ve noticed that the caregivers really like what they are doing.  Another positive is that the New Horizon owners are great to work with. I have their email addresses and phone numbers and can contact them any time. […] When my mother was in the hospital after a fall, Buhle Dube, one of the owners, came to the hospital to see mother and assisted us when mother was discharged. New Horizon is a great home, where they take care of your loved one just as you would.”

“My wife, who had Alzheimer’s, could no longer stand up. With a little persuasion from my daughters, I made the decision to get some help caring for her. [..] After I moved my wife in, I was always pleasantly surprised by how clean and orderly Greenfield was. There were never any foul odors, which seemed to be the norm at other care facilities.  The only odor was the aroma of fresh food, from meals which are always prepared with fresh ingredients. Greenfield also took great care of my wife’s personal hygiene. Her skin was always clean and smooth. Her teeth were well brushed and her hair was curled. Honestly, there is no facility that gives better care than Greenfield. Having Epi care for you is like having one of God’s angels caring for you.”

“My mom was actually a resident at the Campbell location prior to its acquisition by New Horizon last year. In fact, she’s been at that location for the past six years! I can honestly say that the management and quality of care provided by the current owners, Buke and Buhle, far exceeds that of the previous ones. In their short time of ownership, they have made tremendous improvements to the care of the residents. This is evident in the wholesome meals that the residents are provided daily, the attentive and caring staff that is there for them, and the updated, beautiful and welcoming atmosphere maintained for the residents and their families. Also, the stability and ongoing education of the staff gives me a sense of comfort and security in knowing that my mom is being well cared for. Our family is truly blessed by the care that she is receiving! Actually, New Horizon Homes is my mom’;s CASTLE away from home. She is truly treated like a queen!”

One way we ensure only the best care for our residents is through the ongoing education of our staff. We encourage an environment of constant growth and strong work ethic among our staff members, so they can offer their services confidently. 

“the staff regularly learns new skills to make them better caregivers”

My mother was a resident of their Rocky Top location before moving over to their Campbell location. At both homes, New Horizon has provided constant and loving care for my mother (and all their residents) each and every day. Just knowing mom is receiving excellent care allows me to focus on the daily activities of my own life. One thing I especially like about New Horizon Homes is the continual improvement and focus on excellence the owners instill in the staff. For example, meals went from canned/frozen foods under the prior owners, to fresh, nutritious foods and creatively designed meals the residents enjoy eating. The owners believe in continual education, so the staff regularly learns new skills to make them better caregivers, such as how to care for people with dementia and how to prepare meals for diabetics. This differentiates New Horizon Homes from other private homes in my opinion. Working with New Horizon Homes and the owners, Buke and B., has been a godsend. They treat my mother like family.”

“While moving Mom to Greenfield was not easy for Mom to accept, with the care of the Housecall doctor and Epi’s incredible patience, she began to accept and appreciate the wonderful “home” she now occupied. She loved the other ladies and soon became the loving Mom I had not had for several years due to her dementia. Greenfield gave me my sweet, caring Mom back. It also gave my husband and me our lives back. I went daily to see Mom and I always left with a smile on my face. She was happy, healthy, loved, and peaceful. What more could I ask?”

We offer a community, a second home, and specialized care to help bring peace to our families lives once again.

[..] By having my husband in the care of the Rocky Top team our entire family can manage our own lives without having to worry about stepping in to assist in his care, which was the case daily where he was living before New Horizon. Instead we can visit him anytime, day or night, and just enjoy being with him and know that he is cared for and loved. If anyone is considering moving a loved one into assisted living, I would say to avoid considering a large facility, if possible. The personal attention here at New Horizon is invaluable.”
